The department released two images of a man who was caught on surveillance video as they continue to attempt to track down a sexual assault suspect who gained access in the early hours of Sunday, April 2 in the Ballston-Virginia Square neighborhood.
Police say that the incident was reported at approximately 4:15 a.m. on April 2 in the 3900 block of Fairfax Drive, and could potentially be linked to a similar case that happened less than two weeks later.
During the first assault, investigators from the department’s Special Victims Unit said that an unknown man (pictured above) gained access to his victim’s residence, walked into her bedroom, and sexually assaulted her.
He then fled on foot away from the area.
Days later, at approximately 4:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, a similar assault was reported in the 2200 block of Clarion Boulevard in Arlington’s Clarendon-Courthouse neighborhood.
The department continues to investigate leads in both cases to determine if the incidents are linked.
Police described the suspect as being a Black man with an average build and dark beard. He was wearing jeans, a dark shirt, jacket, and hat during the April 2 assault.
